New Element Orthodontics is a certified Invisalign provider, which means board-certified orthodontist Dr. Christopher Myers plans and oversees your treatment from start to finish at our Sacramento and Fair Oaks, CA offices. If you want to straighten your teeth without a mouth full of metal, here is how Invisalign works, what it can treat, and what to expect. One thing worth knowing up front: we offer Invisalign at no extra charge over traditional braces.
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a clear aligner system that straightens teeth using a series of custom-made, removable plastic trays instead of brackets and wires. Each tray shifts your teeth a little closer to their final position, and you swap to the next set on a schedule Dr. Myers sets. The aligners are clear, so most people won’t notice you’re wearing them.
Why Patients Choose Invisalign
Invisalign isn’t right for every case, but for the ones it suits, the appeal is practical:
- Barely noticeable: the aligners are clear and sit close to your teeth, so day to day, most people won’t realize you’re in treatment.
- Removable: you take them out to eat, brush, and floss, which means no food restrictions and easier cleaning than braces.
- Comfortable: made from Invisalign’s smooth SmartTrack material, the trays have no brackets or wires to irritate your cheeks and lips.
- Fewer interruptions: checkups land roughly every six weeks rather than the more frequent adjustments braces can require.
- Proven for many cases: Invisalign can correct a wide range of alignment and bite issues, covered further down this page.
Invisalign at No Extra Charge
At many practices, choosing clear aligners over metal braces costs more. Here it doesn’t. Dr. Myers prices Invisalign the same as traditional braces, so your decision can come down to what fits your life rather than what fits your budget. We’ll confirm the specifics for your case at your consultation.
What the Invisalign Process Looks Like Here
1. Your consultation
We talk through your goals and examine your teeth and bite to confirm whether Invisalign is a good fit for your case. This first consultation is complimentary.
2. A 3D scan and a preview of your results
Instead of messy putty impressions, we use an iTero digital scanner to capture precise 3D images of your teeth. From those, Dr. Myers maps out each planned movement, and you get to preview how your smile will look before you start.
3. Your custom aligners
Your aligners are made just for you from Invisalign’s SmartTrack material. They’re virtually invisible and designed to fit snugly and come on and off easily.
4. Steady progress
You move to a new set of aligners on the schedule we set, often about weekly, and come in for a quick checkup roughly every six weeks. With each set, your teeth shift gradually into place.
5. Keeping your new smile
When treatment wraps up, we’ll talk about a Vivera retainer, custom-made with the same technology as your aligners, to hold your results in place.
Living With Invisalign
The aligners only work when they’re in, so plan to wear each set 20 to 22 hours a day, removing them just to eat, brush, and floss. That single habit, wearing them consistently, is the biggest factor in finishing on time. Because they come out for meals, there’s no list of foods to avoid, and brushing and flossing stay as easy as they were before treatment.
What Invisalign Can Treat
Invisalign handles a broad range of cases, including:
- Crowded teeth
- Gaps and spacing between teeth
- Overbite
- Underbite
- Crossbite
- Open bite
Some complex cases are still treated best with braces. If that’s true for you, Dr. Myers will tell you directly at your consultation rather than fit you to the wrong tool.
Common Questions About Invisalign® Treatment
Does Invisalign cost more than braces?
Not here. We offer Invisalign at no extra charge over traditional metal braces, so cost doesn’t have to drive the decision. We’ll go over the details for your specific treatment at your consultation.
How long does Invisalign treatment take?
It depends on how much your teeth need to move and how consistently you wear your aligners. Some patients finish faster than others, and Dr. Myers gives you a realistic timeline once he has seen your scan.
Will people be able to tell I’m wearing them?
Most won’t. The aligners are clear and fit closely over your teeth, which is a large part of why patients choose them over visible braces.
Can my teenager get Invisalign?
Often, yes. We treat many teens with Invisalign, and our Invisalign for Teens page covers the details specific to younger patients.
